Hello students, parents, and church friends!
This is a blog. I am not usually a writer or someone who reads blog posts, but bear with me because I think a blog is an amazing way to keep people informed, encouraged, and excited about what is happening at Alive Youth Church (AYC)!
The vision is to post weekly for anyone interested in what happened at AYC the previous Sunday, and to have a place for thoughts, goals, stories, prayer requests, and praise reports!
Students, if you miss a Sunday, hop on here to get a recap of the night and how God is moving.
Parents, stay up to date on what your students are learning and experiencing each week.
Everyone, check back every Tuesday for a new post, and follow our Instagram @alivewsfc for reminders and general updates!
So let's get into it!
Our Style
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord" -Psalm 150:6
Since our last meeting Sunday night for our church's worship night, I have been increasingly encouraged by our middle schoolers' and high schoolers' hearts and excitement for worship. Not only does this bring joy and anticipation for what is to come in our church, but hope for a generation that is focused on the things of Jesus. Pushed to the front, jumping, hands raised, shouting out to God, on their knees, worshiping our King. What an amazing sight and sign of a generation ready for life with Jesus.
If you have breath in your lungs, you have reason to praise the Lord. Yahweh, the sound of a breath you take, and the holy name of our Lord. Coincidence, maybe. A reminder, definitely. The average person takes 20,000 breaths in a day, approximately 20 times every minute. 20,000 daily reminders that everything that has breath should praise the Lord. Worship is not just something we do; it's who we are, and what we were designed for. It's more than just music, something to experience, or watch. And it doesn't stop with a song; it continues with our lives and how we live them. It's a posture and lifestyle that we are called to take on each day, throughout our day. May we be a people, a church, a ministry that makes our style, one of worship. How can we reflect God in our relationships, families, schools, sports, and the joys we experience? Sometimes, more importantly, how can we reflect God in our hardships, trials, and when things don't seem to be going as we want them to? How can we choose to worship Him every time, all the time?
"Let everything that has breath" Spoiler alert... that's all of us. Everything. And what a great image that is. What it doesn't say is "Let every single breath that you have praise the Lord" but I think it is a very educated inference to make. Impossible to do? Possibly. An amazing goal to strive for? Most definitely.
If you felt something stir in your heart this past Sunday during worship night, hold onto it. God is not finished with it yet. Bring it with you this week as you continue to worship outside the walls of the church and into your everyday, all the time life. Let that be your style.
